Canada: Sikh Community Donate To Hospital And Cancer Stem Cell Campaign

ONTARIO: The Sikh Sangat (Community) of Gurdwara Baba Budha Ji, Hamilton, Ontario has donated $10,000 to the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre’s Tomorrow Stems From You campaign, and committed to give annually to the hospital.

The campaign supports stem cell work at the Juravinski — one of just three centres doing all forms of stem cell transplants for adult cancer patients in Ontario.

Funds raised go toward expanding a dedicated and specialised clinical space and to buy equipment.

Gurdwara Baba Budha Ji, first opened to the Sangat in 1995 and was the third Gurdwara in Hamilton, second in the east Hamilton and Stoney Creek area.

The Gurdwara was made on the demand of growing Sikh community in the region. Since then, the Sikh population has continued to grow making the Gurdwara central for the Sangat residing in the Hamilton area
